Trillian Surprise

Users of the Trillian instant messaging client received a big surprise today as they found that their clients could no longer connect to the ICQ network.

No authoritative details have been revealed, but it is possible that it has something to do with attempts to keep non-official clients off the network. Interestly, Gaim does not seem to be affected.

Update: A new patch fixing the problem was released shortly after they learned about the issue.

Upgrades!

I finally took the time to update the blog software to the latest version. I must say, this new version is quite sweet. It really is a nicely manufactured piece of software, and is quite an inspiration (read: I might steal some ideas to put into Quatschbox :D)

Update: Since the new version has more robust spam-blocking tools, I have opened up the comments again, hopefully for good.

QuatschBox

So I’ve been kinda busy working on my news/comments “engine” that will likely succeed this blog someday. It’s been kind of fun, since the newest enhancements have made it tons faster than the code that is currently in “beta” at the moment.

I am also going to post the source when it’s ready, since I think it would be cool to get some cooperation from other people (who are better at programming) and make it actually a viable discussion forum thingy. Right now it’s basically just a ripoff of ja.zz and some features of other spinoffs.
