2016 is quickly coming to a close. I noticed I haven’t posted anything in quite some time, so this is my attempt to jot down a quick list of my favorite things from 2016, with no particular ordering or planning. A lot of things, both good and bad, happened in 2016 but here’s my list of things I really liked.

Everybody Let’s Play Pog
Here’s a weird thing I found while going through some really old tapes (as in, 20 year old tapes): a song from the mid-1990s about Pogs that played on the local children’s radio station (pre Radio Disney). I searched the Internet to find out who made this song and came up completely empty, so whoever did this thought they could erase it from history.

Update: I removed the audio because, as Siri was so nice to inform me, the real name of the song is “Let’s Play POG” by Janet & Judy and it is actually still available for purchase (so it’s not so unknown as I thought). The Internet does indeed know everything!
How I Almost Died (Hypothetically)
Something new happened to me this evening as I was mowing my lawn: I got stung by a frickin’ yellow-jacket. As this was the first time I had ever been stung by anything, this was something of a momentous occasion in my life, and as this is the Internet, I am compelled to recount the experience and exploit hyperbole as much as possible.

It’s a lot like last year’s dreaded 06/06/06, except it holds more value for those who like to gamble.
I had it on my todo list to go see Transformers, but never got around to it. So I’ll probably try to see it next week and make it a double movie week with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on IMAX on Friday. I’m pretty psyched for that.
It truly is a shame that I have quite a bit of homework to do for Discrete Structures, though.
MacBook Pro
Well, here I am writing an entry from my brand-new MacBook Pro! These things are sweeeet. I’ve had my eye on one for a while, and with the recent hardware refresh I just couldn’t hold off. OS X, though I have used it quite a bit over the last year and a half or so thanks to my job, just gets even more fun to play with.
Honestly, this is like the finest laptop I have ever laid eyes on.
