I got back a short while ago from another They Might Be Giants concert. I don’t have any time to write about it at the moment, but hopefully this weekend I can add some detail. It was a good show 🙂

Bandwidth Sandwiches!
I just got hooked up a couple days ago with a screaming 4 MB/s down cable Internet connection. Life is good 🙂
Also, I can’t seem to get this remix out of my head. So catchy 🙁
Revenge of the Sith
I’m not up to the task of writing an actual review of the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise, so I’m just going to mention a few thoughts I had about the movie. Firstly, I liked it. Lucas and co. managed to put together a very satisfying third episode. I was not planning on liking the film, as I do not think very highly of episodes one and two. Revenge of the Sith fills the gap Lucas created when he decided to make the prequels.
As enjoyable as Episode III was, I cannot help feeling that Lucas has forever damaged his reputation. While he will always be known for Star Wars, he will also be known for Jar-Jar Binks and the barely-adequate acting which abounds in every installment of the saga. RotS is not without its own serious flaws, but at least the top-quality action scenes and the excellent transition into Episode IV distract our attention.
At the end, I enjoyed it much more than its two predecessors. It isn’t as light-hearted as the original trilogy, but it ends the Star Wars back story and has more light saber action than you dare shake a stick at, which in my book is A Good Thing.
Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil
I think I am part of a small minority that actually enjoyed Doom 3. The cool thing to do, as typical Internet message board discussion suggests, is to bash it for what it obviously was not. The developers had many important decisions to make during development, and because it returns in many ways to “classic” Doom gameplay, it turned many people off, who insist that it wasn’t nearly innovative enough to be a 21st century game.
I disagree, and found Doom 3 to be a great deal of fun. It was a truly creepy experience my first time through. It wasn’t perfect, but I had a good time and submit that it had a bigger influence than we perhaps realize.
But enough about Doom 3. That isn’t the reason I am writing this. A few days ago, I picked up a copy of Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil. I promised myself I would check it out and was therefore pretty excited at the chance to finally play it. What follows is a short (and I mean short) account of what I thought of Nerve‘s heralded expansion pack.
Finals Week
It’s that time of the semester again. I took two finals exams this morning, in Financial Accounting and Anthropology. I have a written take-home final in English Literature that I have completely blocked from my mind until at least tomorrow (since it isn’t due until Friday, of course). With that exception, the semester is over for me 😀
