Revenge of the Sith

I’m not up to the task of writing an actual review of the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise, so I’m just going to mention a few thoughts I had about the movie. Firstly, I liked it. Lucas and co. managed to put together a very satisfying third episode. I was not planning on liking the film, as I do not think very highly of episodes one and two. Revenge of the Sith fills the gap Lucas created when he decided to make the prequels.

As enjoyable as Episode III was, I cannot help feeling that Lucas has forever damaged his reputation. While he will always be known for Star Wars, he will also be known for Jar-Jar Binks and the barely-adequate acting which abounds in every installment of the saga. RotS is not without its own serious flaws, but at least the top-quality action scenes and the excellent transition into Episode IV distract our attention.

At the end, I enjoyed it much more than its two predecessors. It isn’t as light-hearted as the original trilogy, but it ends the Star Wars back story and has more light saber action than you dare shake a stick at, which in my book is A Good Thing.
