I checked out this movie on DVD over the weekend. Overall I was impressed by the technical aspects of the film and the quality of acting. However, I was somewhat disappointed by the transparent attempt at making this movie end “happily.” Being the third movie in the so-called “Spielburg alien trilogy,” it is easily the most depressing. A few moments in the movie are extremely intense and stretch the limits of PG-13 territory.

I also wish they could have done more with Tim Robbins’ character 🙁
